Diesel Spill UPDATE
All Done Digging!
We received the "okay" to stop digging and start filling this monstrous hole! ~394 tons of "dirty" dirt will be "cleaned" up and used as backfill. We are so excited to see the change in direction, and are encouraged to hear it may only take 2 weeks!
No news on final cost, but we are estimating it to exceed $200,000.00. We will give you a final cost as soon as we know.
Thank you to all who have donated thus far! You have helped collect $73,000 towards this. We have a long journey ahead. Thank you for your calls of encouragement, donations, and continued prayers!
Family Promise Mat-Su is nestled between the Chugiak and Talkeetna Mountains, about 40 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska. Affectionally referred to as "The Valley", there are over 20,00 residents in an area the size of West Virginia. 35% of this population is considered homeless. Our goal at Family Promise Mat-Su is to provide a holistic approach in helping families experiencing homelessness through their journey to housing. We partner with local churches to provide warm meals, family activities, and overnight hosting. We provide shelter for their pets, transportation for school/day care, and life skills classes through partnerships in the community.
Our mission is to help homeless and low-income families in the Mat-Su Valley achieve sustainable independence.
